Q: What is the
difference between a “Wireless” Security System and
a Standard System?
A: A standard security system is
a hardwired system where wiring is run from the control
panel to the contacts or other devices connected
to your system…ie…motion detectors, glass break detectors
etc. These wires are run from the device into the
attic space and then to the control panel, usually
located in a discrete location in a closet. A “Wireless”
Security System means that there are NO wires run
from the control panel to these devices. These devices
(ie…window or door contacts, motion detectors, glass
break detectors etc) use radio frequencies (aka…RF)
to transmit information thru a receiver in the keypad
which is hardwired to the control panel. A hard
wired system is the most common type of system we install,
however after we personally review your specific
security needs we will determine what will be the
best choice for your service, hard wired, wireless
or a combination of both.
Q: How does the “Key Fob/Code
Encrypter” work?
A: The Key Fob/Code
Encrypter Kit comes with 2 Remote Key Fobs. On these
fobs you have options to …arm or disarm the system,
panic button, open and close your garage door and with
the purchase of a “accessory module” you can turn the
lights in the home on and off before you enter or after
you leave the home. All of these functions can be done
from the safety and security of your vehicle and as
far away as 50-150 feet, depending on obstructions
and battery strength.
Q: Will my pets affect the “Motion
Detectors” and cause false alarms?
A: Most dogs
under 30 lbs will not be picked up by the motion detectors.
If your dog is over 30 lbs we have “pet safe” motion
detectors available for purchase. However, if you have
one or more cats or more than a single dog over 30
lbs, we recommend using a glass break detector in lieu
of the motion detectors. This will prevent “false alarms”
Q: What Is “Cellular Radio Monitoring”?
A: Do not confuse
a “Wireless” system with Cellular
Radio Monitoring…..Cellular
Radio Monitoring is used in the event you do not have
a land based telephone line or you want to provide
backup phone service in the event your VOIP (internet
phone) or your land based phone lines are cut or disabled.
Cellular monitoring uses a cellular based radio signal
that broadcasts your security system signal via that
cellular based telephone connection to our 24/7 monitoring
station. This type of monitoring is simply put…a one
way cell line straight to the monitoring station and
your security. Thieves are smart these days, cutting
the phone lines are an easy and typical way to disable
your security system. This type of monitoring requires
the purchase of a “Cellular Radio”. When you purchase
the radio, it is yours to keep. Give our sales dept
a call and we will help you determine if this is your
best choice in home protection.
Q: Do I need
to have a “home phone” line to have a security system
installed?
A: Absolutely not….you
can use our “Business
Cellular Radio Monitoring” or Residential Cellular Radio Monitoring service. Need
more info about how that works? Click on the link
or see question #4.
Q: If my alarm goes off….what happens?
Will the Police be called? What about “false Alarms”?
A: In
the event of an “alarm”…and you don’t disarm the system
within the allotted “grace period (typically 30-45
seconds)…….the first thing that happens is that signal
is routed to our 24/7 Monitoring Station. At that time,
within a few seconds the alarm company will attempt
to reach you on your home phone (or the first phone
number you provide to us) If there is no answer the
police are dispatched, at that time the Monitoring
station will attempt to reach you via other numbers
you provided as backup, if you are reached and it is
determined that the alarm is “false” the police dispatch
will be cancelled. If no one is reached the police
dispatch will stay in place. Note…many city and
county police and fire departments will allow a certain
number of dispatches before they charge any fines.
It is always recommended that you check with your
local municipalities to make this determination.
Q: Do I need an alarm permit?
A: Typically
– Yes….check with your specific city or county in which
you live.
Q: What happens when my contract
expires?
A: Liberty Security requires a 2 year contract. Under that contract
you are billed in quarterly, semi-annually, or annual
payments. After the 2 years have passed, what ever
billing cycle you were under, you will continue to
be billed at that increment for the same dollar amount
you contracted for…..ie…if you were billed quarterly
under our contract, you will continue to be billed
quarterly.
After your 2 year contract has expired you can cancel
at any time with a 30 days notice without
any penalty.
Q: What does the “Extended Warranty”
cover?
A: Our Extended Warranty will cover ALL parts and labor
for the duration of the contract or as long as you
are paying for the “Extended Warranty” coverage. Our
service guarantee is if you call us for service during
our normal business hours (M-F 8am – 5pm) we will be
out to your residence or business within 24 hours
to make any necessary repairs or replacements. What
is NOT covered ….ever….under any warranty is damage
due to acts of God (ie,..lightening ), rodent
damage or client damage (intentional or non-intentional…ie….if
you are replacing a window in your home and
the window contact or wire is broken during that
replacement)
Q: Do I get a discount on my Homeowners
Insurance?
A: Typically
– YES! In the State of Texas the typical discount is
10%-20%, with some insurance companies the discount
will be split ….10% for Burglary Monitoring and an
additional 10% for Fire Monitoring….Check with your
insurance company to be sure and then ask your sales
representative
to always quote you for Fire Monitoring Protection
to take advantage of your maximum discount!
Q: Will my monitoring rate change?
A: As long as you are under contract with Liberty Sound
and Security, your rate will not change, we haven’t
changed our rates since the inception of our business…..this
is another good reason why Liberty Security should
be your only choice in Home Security Protection!
